Amenity Rules
Basketball Court/Gym/Racquetball Rules
- No slamming or hanging on the rims or nets.
- No horse play or running/jumping off bleachers
- No food or drink allowed (except water)
- All trash must be disposed off when exiting the gym
- Must wear shoes non-damaging to the gym floor.
- Appropriate athletic attire required.
- The YMCA is not responsible for any lost of stolen items
- Harassment or intimidating words, gestures, body language or any physical
- contact in a threatening or aggressive way is not allowed.
- Respect the Rules, Respect the Space.
- Rules and regulations will be enforced by YMCA staff. Violators of the above rules will be required to leave the facility immediately. Repeat violators will be banned from the Westside YMCA. Participants will be responsible for the cost of any damages resulting from disorderly conduct or misused of the facility.
Fitness Center Rules
- Please do not drop your weights as injury may occur.
- Avoid making loud sounds including banging the weights and yelling.
- Wear proper clean athletic shoes and clothing. Bare feet and socks are prohibited. NO SANDALS.
- Let others work in between sets. Do not sit on the machines between sets if others are waiting.
- Please wipe off equipment after each use. Spray cleaner and towels are provided.
- Limit your use of cardio equipment to 30 minutes when others are waiting. If you have already exceeded that, please offer others your machine.
- Collars on weight bars are mandatory.
- Please re-rack your weights and return other accessories to their place.
- No food or drinks other than water are allowed in the fitness center.
Whirlpool Rules
- Individuals at high risk with the following conditions should not use the whirlpool unless authorized by a physician:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Respiratory problems
- Pregnancy
- Diabetes
- Emotional disorders
- Stress
- Epilepsy or seizure disorders
- Kidney disease
- Active skin infection
- Cool down at least 5 minutes after exercise before entering the whirlpool.
- Shower before using the whirlpool.
- Do not use the whirlpool alone.
- Children 12 years of age and younger should not be permitted to use the whirlpool because they are not yet physically capable of coping with the heat.
- Children 13 years of age and over are allowed to use the whirlpool.
- Do not stay in the whirlpool for longer than 10 minutes.
- Do not use the whirlpool if you are using alcohol, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotics, or tranquilizers.
- Do not bring food, drinks, or cell phones/ electronics into the whirlpool.
- Do not submerge to the bottom of the whirlpool, as hair can become entangled in the drain.
- The use of body lotions, oils, or suntan preparations is prohibited.
- Do not wear street shoes in the whirlpool area.
- Aerobic exercise is not allowed in the whirlpool.
- Diving or jumping into the whirlpool is prohibited.
Sauna and Steam Room Rules
- Members and guests should limit time in these facilities to a maximum of 10 minutes.
- Members should be aware that prolonged exposure to high levels of heat and humidity might put them at increased risk of heat stress, heat stroke, and other heart related illnesses.
- Individuals at high risk (pregnant women, individuals taking prescription medicine, those with elevated or low blood pressure, circulatory deficiencies, diabetes, heart disease, emotional disorders, history of seizures and those under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs) should be advised not to use the sauna or steam room unless authorized by a physician.
- Children 12 years of age and younger should not be permitted to use the sauna/steam room because they are not yet physically capable of coping with the heat.
- Children 13 years of age and over are allowed to use the sauna/steam room.
- Members and guests should wait at least five minutes after exercising to cool down, or until sweating has subsided, before using either of these facilities.
- No food or drink is permitted in these facilities.
- Shaving, due to risk of blood borne pathogens, is strictly prohibited.
- Please refrain from using any aromatic substances such as eucalyptus, not supplied by the Y.
- Soap shower is required prior to entering these facilities.
- Members are required to wear appropriate clothing or towel, while in facilities.
- Do not pour hot water or any other substance over the rocks in the sauna.
- Do not leave papers or items in the sauna/steam room.
