Aging in Place Workshop

Did You Know?

As our population ages, it becomes increasingly important to make our homes safe and livable for all stages of life. Whether you’re preparing for the future or addressing a temporary situation due to an injury, understanding how to adapt your home is crucial.

Falling is the leading cause of injury and injury-related death among adults aged 65 and over. More than 1 in 4 older adults fall each year, leading to:

  • 36,000 deaths
  • 1,000,000 hospital stays
  • 3,000,000 emergency department visits

How Can a CAPS Designer Help?

It’s not just about adding a few grab bars in the bathroom. A Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designer will assess your kitchen and bathroom to identify and address potential hazards. The CAPS training from the National Association of Home Builders ensures that our entire Design Team is skilled in making your home safer and more accessible and also trained to help you make informed decisions about your home’s future.

Here’s what a CAPS Designer will evaluate:

  • Mobility Considerations: Ensuring safe and easy movement throughout your home.
  • Sensory Considerations: Addressing visual and auditory needs.
  • Cognitive Considerations: Making your home easier to navigate and manage.
