Set Your Child Up for Success – for Free!
A quality pre-kindergarten (PreK) experience sets your child up for success. It provides fun ways to learn concepts like early math, science, and literacy. It also helps them develop social and emotional skills in a place where all children can learn and grow together.
The YMCA of Lansing offers two high quality free PreK programs Oak Park Early Learning Center (South Lansing) and Parkwood Preschool (East Lansing). Both programs use best practices to help children prepare for success in kindergarten and beyond. More children are eligible now as Michigan works toward its goal of PreK For All – free PreK for 4 year olds.
When can families sign up?
The best time to sign up for PreK is whenever the time is right for your situation and your child. We enroll new students all year long, so talk to us about openings we have for your child. We can arrange a visit and our teachers can help you decide if now is the right time for your child.
Research shows that children who attend high-quality pre-K programs are more likely to:
* Read well by third grade
* Graduate from high school
* Attend college
* Earn higher incomes
Families with children who turned five by 12/1/24 are encouraged to complete applications through the link below and select either “YMCA Oak Park” or “YMCA Parkwood.” Don’t delay, spots are filling up fast!
